Climate Change Adaptation Integrated Project

BSDA’s Climate Change Adaptation Program is a key part of our integrated approach to sustainable development. Linked with our Education Program and our eco-friendly social enterprise, the Hanchey Bamboo Resort, this initiative addresses urgent environmental challenges — including rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, flooding, deforestation, plastic pollution, and the effects of climate change on education systems. Many vulnerable communities still lack the knowledge, resources, and capacity to adapt. In response, BSDA works to raise awareness, strengthen local skills, and implement community-based adaptation strategies. By empowering youth, farmers, and local authorities, the program helps reduce the impacts of climate change and builds long-term resilience across Cambodian communities.

providing education about  climate change

We deliver climate education and awareness programs at Smile School (TVET), Drop-in Centers, HBR, public schools, pagodas, and communities. These include reducing plastic use, promoting eco-friendly alternatives, recycling, organizing clean-ups, and encouraging sustainable habits among youth and visitors.

Creating an eco friendly environment

We planted diverse trees across schools, community centers, pagodas, HBR, and tourist sites in collaboration with OISCA Cambodia to enhance environmental sustainability and raise climate change awareness. .

food security and resilience

We provide small grants to vulnerable families to grow vegetables for both household use and income generation, supporting food security and resilience.

promoting green tourism

We established the eco-friendly Hanchey Bamboo Resort, built with bamboo to promote green tourism and environmental education. We encourage visitors at Hanchey Bamboo Resort to avoid plastic products and to use instead bamboo and reusable materials in daily activities
