General Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager at Hanchey Eco-Resort, Kampong Cham

Hanchey Eco-Retreat Centre (HERC) is the long-term vision of Mr Vandong Thorn and the management team at BSDA, to promote Cambodian Buddhism and culture whilst at the same time supporting the development of local youth. The business will be registered as a separate entity to BSDA and its general activities with funds being returned to the parent organization through leasing fees and profit share agreements.

As a social enterprise HERC provides training and employment opportunities for the youth of Kampong Cham, drawing employees and trainees from the local community and BSDA’s training programs and restaurant in Kampong Cham. Youth are able to be trained in supporting roles such as food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance and farming – transferable skills that require a low barrier to entry.

BSDA is now seeking for candidates to fulfill the positions as follows


General Manager (1 position ) based in Kampong Cham Province at Hanchey Eco-Retreat.

Sales & Marketing Manager (1 position ) based in Kampong Cham Province at Hanchey Eco-Retreat.

 

  1. General Manager
  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily sales activities
  • Have a working knowledge of all standard operating procedures and policies
  • Successfully resolve customer issues
  • Maximise customer retention
  • Provide ongoing staff motivation, team development and high standards of service
  • Ensure company’s standards of cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security are met
  • Group/team facilitator skilled in establishing project goals and expectations, anticipating problems, planning contingencies, evaluating results, provide focused feedback, coaching, directing, advising and teaching staff.
  • Creates an operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction.
  • Monitors the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial reports. Initiates corrective action.
  • Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints. Initiates corrective action.
  • Develops accurate and aggressive long and short-range financial objectives consistent with the Company’s mission statement.
  • Prepares financial reports for management that clearly explain operational effectiveness, trends and
  • Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established labor regulations.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of community public affairs involvement.
  • Executes marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s business plan.
  • Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains applicable preventive maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
  • Implements and maintains effective open-door communication system that crosses departmental lines in order to reach all employees.
  • Understands the government regulations affecting hotel’s operations, ensuring hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements
  • Deals with the general public, customers, employees, union and government officials with tact and courtesy.
  • Plans and organizes the work of others.

  • Bachelor or Master degree in business management or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience in a similar/related position
  • Must be fluent in English /Khmer (writing and speaking)

2. Sales & Marketing Manager

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  2. Prioritize, organize and follow up.
  3. Follow directions thoroughly.
  4. Understand guests’ needs.
  5. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  6. Uphold and exemplify Resort Service Excellence.
  7. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  8. Work with minimal supervision.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of guest and associates information and pertinent hotel data.
  10. Ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training.
  11. Direct development and performance of staff; follow up with corrections when needed.
  12. Work well under pressure of organizing and attaining production schedules and timelines.
  13. Give credit and highlight others’ success.
  • Prepare and administer timely Performance Evaluations according to hotel standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental, divisional, and hotel policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and respond promptly to guests’ requests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Review the daily activities, such as:
  1. a) House count
  2. b) Forecasted covers for each outlet
  3. c) Catering activity
  4. d) Purchases
  5. e) Meetings
  6. f) Appointments
  7. g) VIPs/special guests
  • Ensure that staff reports to work as scheduled. Document any late or absent associates.
  • Coordinate breaks for staff.
  • Inspect grooming and attire of staff; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Monitor performance of staff and ensure all procedures are completed to the department standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Engineering. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and associate morale.
  • Provide feedback to staff on their performance; handle disciplinary problems and counsel associate according to Hotel standards.
  • Interview and hire new personnel according to Hotel policies and standards.
  • Prepare daily/weekly payroll reports.
  • Document pertinent information in the logbook and follow up on items notated during other shifts.
  • Input and access information in the computer and/or point of sales system.
  • Plan and conduct monthly departmental meetings and Daily Shift Meetings (DSM).
  • Return business telephone calls.
  • Answer the telephone within 3 rings using correct salutation and proper telephone etiquette.
  • Answer correspondence.
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly booking quota in the assigned market.
  • Assist in achieving or exceeding budgeted goals in sales, profit and occupancy for the total hotel e a clear the operation.
  • Plan and execute cost-effective and productive sales trips into assigned territory to improve and increase our penetration of that market.
  • Qualification and solicitation of existing and new accounts through:
  1. a) Personal visits
  2. b) Telephone calls
  3. c) Written correspondence
  4. d) Participation in promotional events
  5. e) Participation in industry and community events, as well as trade shows.
  6. f) Travel to industry events and sales calls.
  • Promptly respond (within 24 hours) to all inquiries, prospects, and tentative or definite business.
  • Interact with customers during meetings or conventions on the property through:
  1. a) Personal welcome
  2. b) Periodic contact
  3. c) Exit interview for referrals
  4. d) Participation in pre and post-convention meetings
  • Regular contact with future definite meetings.
  • Review meeting quotas, goals and forecasts for quality and quantity of room nights.
  • Update and maintain recording system including:
  1. a) Creation of files as per Resort’s SOPs
  2. b) Maintenance of file system
  3. c) Following policies and procedures in detail with respect to files and appropriate forms (Definite Booking Summary, Booking Recaps with memos and comments, and log of calls, etc. filled out properly and completely).
  • Be able to enter and retrieve all appropriate information
  • Maximize occupancy and average rate of hotel through creative and selective selling.
  • Accurately report the month-end, year-to –date room night and revenue accounts to Corporate Executive members, for revenue increasing opportunities and possible action plans.
  • Report on trends in the industry and local markets.
  • Budget, plan, and execute cost-effective and productive sales trips .
  • Accurately forecast all strong tentative and definite groups on an ongoing basis, paying particular attention to the forecasted average rate, comp units forecasted, and accurate room night forecast based on history.
  • Maintain a calendar allowing you to meet all established deadlines and planned sales trips. Regular deadlines include (but are not limited to) the monthly forecast and expect-to-turn reports.
  • Plan and execute cost-effective and productive sales trips into your assigned territory, to improve and increase our penetration of that market. Trips to be scheduled in conjunction with established show dates of other events.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of hotel wide standards.
  • Prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecast. Adjust schedules throughout the week to meet the business demands.
  • Train and enforce standards in accordance with Standards Manual.
  • Any other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree field Sales/Marketing certificated field
  • Cambodian nationality, minimum age 25
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as sales Manager
  • Enjoy meeting people, with a warm outgoing personality
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence,  procedures
  • To be good at speaking and writing advanced English
  • Confident user of MS Office
  • Flexible attitude, independent, honest and teamwork personality
