Improving Basic Education

Civics Awareness, Cultural, and Practical Life Skills Training

  1. Attend planning meetings on the development of formal curricula that will comprise civics and cultural training under the life skills development programming undertaken by the project. BSDA will also undertake a limited number of training activities in practical livelihoods in communities on a pilot basis
  2. Work with the Life Skills and Teacher Education Component Team Leader to plan and implement civics/cultural/practical livelihood life skills modules.
  3. Work with the IBECP Consultant responsible for civics, cultural, and practical livelihoods training to provide ideas for content, improve understanding of how to use resulting modules, and provide feedback on the successes and constraints in implementation.
  4. Work with the Provincial Working Group in each province where BSDA is working (Kampong Cham and Kratie) to plan and implement civics modules.
  5. Work with selected schools (the number and location will be determined during later program implementation) to implement civics training modules.
  6. Identify suitable teachers in each school who can stand as permanent resource persons for civics in their school.
  7. Monitor the implementation of civics/culture/practical livelihood modules by counterparts in schools gain standard indicators that will be provided by the program.
  8. Document successes and constraints in the implementation of civics/culture modules and report these to the KAPE Program Manager.
  9. Provide funds for operational costs to School Committees on a regular basis.

Capacity Building Activities

  1. Attend training workshop(s) and technical meetings organized by KAPE Capacity Building Manager and Advisor.
  2. Attend IBECP Staff Meetings, as necessary.
  3. Establish benchmarks for the development of BSDA as an effective development agency.
  4. Liaise with and present project lessons learnt and recommendations to IBECP on a regular basis and at a particular time as needed.
